Tell me that is not parked in front of my building.
Caleb Turner, six years and this is still the best thing you’ve got?
[Laughter]
Does that thing even pass inspection?
“Morning, Lauren.”
“What are you doing here?”
“I’ve got a meeting.”
“With who? The guy who takes out the trash?”
[Laughter]
“Emma, get security to move that thing.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“Today, of all days, the board picks the new VP of marketing at 11:00, and my ex shows up in a lawn mower with doors.”
“He seemed nice.”
[Gasps]
“Nice. That’s what everybody said about him. Three years, and he was always working on a project. I got tired of waiting for the project.”
“And the new owners might sit in today. Route 9 Holdings.”
“They closed on us last Friday, and nobody’s even seen them.”
“I heard they’re keeping it quiet.”
“Rich people usually do. My fiancé drives our flagship. He would never leave something like that outside somebody’s front door.”
“You never tell us his name.”
“Because it’s nobody’s business. Friday, we close on the penthouse at Harbor Point. Forty-first floor. One whole wall looks out on the river.”
“The deck’s on your desk. I finished it around 3:00 this morning. The 40% page, I filled that in from the Sutton wrap-up report you gave me. I never saw the event details.”
“You don’t need to. Put my name on the cover. Just mine.”
“Did you call security yet?”
“Now, Emma.”
“Board meets at 11:00. Philip has the closing papers. They still have no idea it’s you who bought the company.”
“Good. Before I’m the owner, I want to be nobody for one morning. See how they treat nobody.”
“And? How’s it going?”
[Laughter]
“Educational.”
“One more thing. Legal flagged marketing. One vendor billed us $3.6 million over fourteen months, and I can’t find a single event.”
“No accusations until we have proof. Not against anybody.”
