“Either way, it was going to be yours. In a year, no matter what.”

“Ray, your father and brother got what they asked me for. You never asked me for anything. I asked you once who was looking after you, and you didn’t have an answer. So I’m answering for you.”

“Phase one, existing structure. They were going to tear it down.”

“I was going to let them tear down Grandpa’s kitchen.”

“Major. Sorry. Sorry, I’m early. You’re busy. I can come back.”

“Briggs, I’m the one who called you. Sit down.”

“I’m in an electrician program. Eight months. I just need a place to stay near the school until I finish. Sorry. I know there are guys a lot worse off than me.”
