“I only approved the totals. I trusted him. Caleb.”
“Car 117, the SUV Blake drives, it belongs to Arden.”
“A line from Sutton’s invoice. Venue deposit, Harbor Point 41A, $480,000.”
“And Harbor Point’s confirmation. Buyer, Lauren Barrett.”
“That’s the apartment he’s buying you. This company paid the deposit with your name on it.”
“No. He told me he paid the deposit.”
“He did. With our money.”
“He said the car was his. He said all of it was his.”
“Hey, babe. Relax. Tomorrow you see Emma, Friday we get the keys.”
“Who paid the deposit, Blake?”
[Laughter]
“Does it matter? It’s in your name. It’s my gift to you.”
“My name. He put my name on it.”
“Why are you showing me this? You could just let me go down with him.”
“I’m not here to save you.”
“You told Emma to sign those forms. You’re the only one who can say so.”
“Eight cities, sixty ambassadors, a 40% lift in brand reach.”
“Arden got exactly what it paid for.”
“As for the paperwork, Lauren’s team handled sign-off on your side.”
“Ms. Barrett, who told Ms. Rhodes to sign these forms?”
“He sent me this yesterday before the review.”
“Number four. Give them the assistant’s name and this goes away.”
“That’s completely out of the question.”
“Because I told her to.”
“I approved every payment.”
“The 40% was bought—fake traffic—and I knew it.”
“I never went to a single event.”
“And I never told anyone in this building that Sutton Creative belongs to my fiancé.”
“Ms. Barrett, you understand what you’ve just admitted to?”
“Yes.”
“She’s emotional. She’s under a lot of stress. That assistant—”
“Her name is Emma.”
